NBA insider Jake Fischer recently revealed which direction the Charlotte Hornets could possibly go in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft. According to Fischer, Charlotte is almost certain to select a big man in the first round. "There's a growing expectation that the Hornets will come away with a center at No. 18 if they don't use No. 14 on a big man." When it pertains to a center, many mock drafts have linked the Hornets to Morez Johnson Jr. (Michigan) and Hannes Steinbach (Washington).
Fischer also indicated that there is speculation surrounding the Hornets and prospects expected to fall in the middle of the first round, those being Cameron Carr (Baylor) and Bennett Stirtz (Iowa). Carr would give Charlotte versatility on the wing, having averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.9 steals with Baylor. Stirtz, on the other hand, is a sure-handed point guard prospect who could be used in a backup role if the Hornets were unable to re-sign recent trade acquisition Coby White.
