Oregon baseball adds transfer OF Tucker Jones to the team

Compared to the recent news for the Oregon Ducks baseball roster, this is a welcome sight.

According to a report from Ducks On Base, an Oregon baseball podcast, the Ducks added former Delta State outfielder Tucker Jones to the roster. This is the opposite of some of the news earlier this week, with Oregon losing All-American freshman Angel Laya, power hitter Naulivou Lauaki Jr., and catcher Burke-Lee Mabeus to the transfer portal.

Jones is a speed-contact hitter who had a great 2026 season for the Statesmen, a Division II team in the Gulf South Conference in Mississippi. He should fit right in near the top of the order for the Ducks. Jones will be a senior in 2027.

In his only season at Delta State, Jones hit .360 with nine home runs, recorded 122 total bases, 65 runs driven in, and also had 50 runs scored in 211 at-bats. He was also an incredible 32-for-32 in stolen bases.

Which outfield spot Jones will play remains to be seen, but he would fit in nicely in left field at PK Park. That position was somewhat of a revolving door for the Ducks in 2026. With Jack Brooks patrolling center, Oregon has the makings for one of the speediest outfields in the country. But finding a replacement for Laya in right field might be a difficult task for coach Mark Wasikowski.

The offseason has just begun, so the Ducks have plenty of time to fill that hole with someone already on the roster or through the transfer portal.
