There's no question who the fan favorite is in the final round of the 2026 U.S. Open.
Wyndham Clark is looking to go wire-to-wire and win his second U.S. Open title Sunday at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York. Meanwhile, he's paired with Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 who's competing on his 30th birthday and trying to complete the career Grand Slam.

Scheffler got serenaded with song on the first tee. Clark has got grumbles from the crowd and cheers more for his poor shots than anything good thus far on Sunday. But some of those fans are being booted for their behavior on Sunday.
The Fried Egg's Kevin Van Valkenburg is on the ground and posted a photo of a fan being tossed out for shouting, "Don't choke Wyndham" as he's hitting shots. The jeers have come through the broadcast audibly for much of the final round, and that's far from the only thing fans are saying to go against the leader.
Clark hopes this week could be a redemption story for him after a locker room incident last year at Oakmont was the latest in a long string of incidents that painted him in a negative light. Even with a six-shot lead with 18 holes to go, fans have not gone easy on Clark, and paired with Scheffler, he has been painted the enemy by the New York crowd.
The crowds in New York are known for being rowdy and often crossing the line. Just look at the Ryder Cup last September for an example. But Sunday at Shinnecock, fans are being thrown out for crossing the line when it comes to jeering the leader.
