Quarterbacks are by far the most difficult position to scout in football, and maybe sports in general. Projections are difficult, as schemes, playbooks, understanding, and digesting the offense are exponentially harder than in college. However, as things stand, we could be looking at six quarterbacks taken in round one in the 2027 NFL Draft, and arguably the best one is Oregon's Dante Moore. Let's talk about it.
Height: 6'3'
Weight: 206 lbs
Recruiting rank: Five-star recruit, no. 3 quarterback nationally in 2023
Hometown: Detroit, Michigan
Strengths:
Quick release, never seems to waver
Has the ability to layer throws to all thirds of the field cleanly
High IQ pre-snap. Diagnoses coverages well and makes adjustments as needed
Clean footwork, no happy feet with pressure. Climbs pocket rather than scrambling
Poise on the big stage. Strong performances against USC, Penn State, and Texas Tech
Quick to get over mistakes

Weaknesses:
Does not bring a ton of upside as a rusher
Quick to forget bad throws, but can't shake early contact. Looks timid after the first blow of the game
When things unravel, they unravel fast
Indiana games turned ugly, as he was sacked six times, which also led to two crucial INTs
Needs to trust his arm more to push the ball down the field
Dante Moore lands as my QB1 for my early 2027 NFL Draft rankings, but we could see a ton of movement on this list as the season beings. He brings the highest floor of the prospects in the class, but his upside is capped as of now. Once he learns to let things rip and trust his skill, the ceiling will be very high.
