The Auburn Tigers are adding a three-star athlete to the defensive side of the football. On Sunday, Christian Clemente of 247Sports reported that 2027 three-star athlete Preston Williams had committed to the Tigers.
Williams is an in-state prospect playing for G.W. Long in Skipperville, Alabama. 247Sports has him rated as a three-star recruit in the 2027 class. He is the No. 63 player in Alabama. According to Clemente, Williams is listed as a safety but could play multiple positions for the Auburn defense. Williams picked the Tigers over Jacksonville State, South Alabama, and others.

In the report, Williams has always been an Auburn fan. “Truly, I’ve always been an Auburn man! I love Auburn and believe in it! Wareagle!”
Williams is now the 21st player committed to the 2027 recruiting class. Of those 21 players, nine are rated as four-star prospects. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 9 in 247Sports' 2027 recruiting rankings after Williams' commitment. If there was any doubt in Alex Golesh's ability to land top high school prospects, those doubts have been silenced.
This news is coming off Auburn landing four-star EDGE James Pace on Friday. Pace is one of those many four-stars that have recently committed. Like many players who have signed with the Tigers in recent years, the culture around the school is a big selling point. Auburn fans should be excited about the commitment of Williams.
